The Role
A Quality Inspector is responsible for reviewing incoming products and materials, first article parts and nonconforming parts identified during production to make sure they meet company requirements.
Their duties include measuring objects compared to their intended physical specifications, running quality tests and identifying defects. Extensive soldering on printed circuit boards.
This job involves performing inspections, keeping a record of defects, analyzing products, and providing input to Quality, Production and Engineering and provides feedback regarding process and procedure improvement opportunities.
QA Inspector will possess a trained eye for detail. In depth knowledge and comprehension of quality standards is essential.
This is an on-site role to support the needs of production and to address issues quickly and effectively with production and engineering teams.
Specific Job Responsibilities :
Read part drawings, specifications and instructions to comprehend the quality expectations for the parts and materials
Approve or reject raw materials with respect to quality standards and record supplier performance
Select output samples and check them using appropriate methods (measuring dimensions, testing functionality, comparing to specifications etc.)
Use automated systems to perform complex testing procedures
Maintain records of testing, information and various metrics such as number of defective products per day, etc.
Complete First Article Inspections as needed
Prepare and submit reports to the Supply Quality Manager
Perform other related duties as directed to meet the business needs
Accept or reject materials or articles; identify and document non-conformance and notify appropriate personnel of potential rejection of items.
Review and inspect parts from production, engineering, and directly from suppliers as needed
Follow established job safety practices, policies and procedures as specified in plant directives for the safe performance of daily activities. Proactively suggest improvements and elevate issues to management
Performs rework of PCBs and Electronic Assemblies
Experience with Wiring harness inspection and testing
Interact with multiple departments to give feedback on PCBs
Diagnose issues and defects for electronic parts
Requirements and Skills :
Knowledge of measuring devices and test equipment to support inspection and testing of all parts and sub-assemblies as needed.
Must be able to read blueprints and be capable of calculating print dimensions, angles, and radii, etc.
Must have a working knowledge of production processes and product requirements.
Should possess both written and verbal communication skills.
Crosstrain to support different products as needed
Experience as quality inspector or relevant role
A keen eye for detail and a results-driven approach.
Familiarity with quality testing machines and systems (AOI)
Thorough knowledge of quality control standards and testing methodologies
Certification of quality control is a strong advantage (ISO 9000 etc.)
IPC-JSTD-001, IPC-A-610, IPC-A-6012, current or previously certified is a highly desired.
Must be able to use Soldering Iron and Microscope – dexterity for fine detail work / repairs
Includes lifting and moving parts / boxes.
Working knowledge of MS Office and Linux.
Flexible and adaptable to changing business needs.
