HYBRID ELIGIBILITY
This position works a hybrid schedule, spending time remotely and in the office in Houston, TX. The current hybrid schedule provides flexibility to collaborate in the office Tuesdays through Thursdays and work from home Mondays and Fridays. With our 9 / 80 feature you get time off every other Friday when you work at least 80 hours over the preceding nine days.
POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced Reservoir Engineer to join the Gulf of Mexico (GOM) Asset Optimization Subsurface Team, reporting to the Sr. Reservoir Engineering Manager. Hess’ interest in GOM includes 6 producing assets and 3 operated hubs, each with additional infill and tieback potential. This Houston-based position is for an individual contributor, that will provide reservoir engineering support for well & reservoir management, production optimization and project maturation of GOM fields.
The position requires experience in classical reservoir engineering methods, reservoir simulation, uncertainty, risk and opportunity analysis, business planning, economics, and reserves reporting. It also requires exposure to identification of production enhancement opportunities, production engineering concepts and application, well intervention and well delivery. The successful candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary team seeking to optimize the development strategy to maximize asset value.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Contribute to maximize asset value, with focus on production and reservoir management optimization. Recommend production improvement opportunities through the combination and integration of reservoir characterization techniques.
- Monitor and analyze well performance, including data acquisition planning and execution, to enable asset optimization.
- Forecast short and long-term well and reservoir performance for a range of development scenarios using multiple techniques (DCA, RTA, Material Balance, Simulation).
- Construct and update reservoir models (Material Balance, Simulation, Analytical & Numerical PTA / RTA), to assist with production forecasting, reservoir management and field optimization.
- Ensure high quality standards for managing reservoir engineering data and systems, ensuring consistency with Hess guidelines.
- Support corporate processes such as budget and plan preparation, portfolio reviews, annual reserves reporting and internal / external audits.
- Perform economic evaluations to support decision making.
- Actively participate in assurance reviews, technical workshops and opportunity lookbacks.
- Effectively communicate results of subsurface assessments to Hess management and asset co-owners. Work with the team to identify and promote value creation opportunities and influence asset optimization.
- Coach and mentor less experienced staff.
