They are actively looking for a talented R eservoir Engineering Advisor Offshore based in Houston to join their Geoscience team.
Job Summary :
Our Client recognizes Reservoir Engineering Advisors as subject matter experts within the organization and impact business through support of multiple projects, or key roles in major projects, and have a multi-year track record as key value creators. Additionally, they actively mentor, train and provide input on staff development including both coursework and on-the-job experiences to grow technical abilities. They are often selected as functional representatives for corporate and technical-focused activities and initiatives, helping to set direction as a technical expert within the company. Advisors also participate in the evaluation and selection of new technology, looking for viable applications of machine learning / artificial intelligence to supplement the knowledge of our technical staff to shorten cycle times on opportunity evaluations. Specifically, supporting maturation of drilling opportunities is a major part of the role, requiring close collaboration with a strong team of geoscientists to optimize development options while balancing risks and uncertainties within a fit-for purpose value assurance framework. Trouble shooting well performance problems and providing recommendations on workovers and stimulation treatments are also important. Underpinning the above scope is a detailed understanding of the reserves process and economic analysis for accurate SEC reserve assessments. Execution of these roles may include direct involvement on a project but will often be through technical reviews and direct mentorship of other reservoir engineers to help build their technical skillsets over time. Advisor-level professionals are recognized by the industry as key resources in their field of expertise. They attend technology conferences and seminars to stay up to date on industry developments and new technologies. They serve as role models in professional and ethical behavior, develop and foster strong networks within and outside the company, and drive multiple initiatives to promote continuous improvement and quality outcomes throughout the organization. They utilize their business knowledge to develop clear strategies, identify transformational business opportunities, and justify essential resources.
This position will report directly to the Subsurface Vice President and will work with Subsurface Leadership to help ensure technical consistency and competency across the delivery teams. The Reservoir Engineering Advisor will work in the Houston Corporate office and may work two (2) days a
week remotely.
Responsibilities :
- This position will report directly to the Subsurface Vice President and will work with Subsurface Leadership to help ensure technical consistency and competency across the delivery teams.
- Work with multidisciplinary teams to create development plans for deepwater fields that incorporate risks and uncertainties in the development decisions
- Provide expert guidance when trouble shooting well performance issues and provide recommendations on workover and / or stimulation treatments
- Expert knowledge of classical reservoir engineering, including material balance analyses, PTA analyses and PVT analyses
- Provide and maintain reservoir models in close collaboration with geoscientists to ensure integration of all relevant data. Advanced reservoir modelling skills and in-depth experience with uncertainty analyses and a combination of hands-on modelling and mentoring of colleagues will be required.
- Plays a critical role in technical evaluation of investment opportunities, both internal and new ventures, as an active participant in both technical discipline and cross functional peer reviews as projects mature through the value assurance workflow. Focus areas will be to understand the reservoir, well design, expected performance, project economics, and provide the appropriate feedback and documentation as required.
- Keeps up to date on industry best practices and emerging technologies, making recommendations on how to improve our business through updated processes and new technology implementation.
- Ability to effectively tailor and deliver the main message on a given subject to the target audience, which includes the technical team up through senior levels of management within Murphy or partners. When communicating team results to management and partners, acknowledges contributions of others.
- Understands and supports larger organizational objectives and metrics, helping translate how those objectives are supported at a technical level to others within Subsurface.
