The Opportunity
As a Principal Data Scientist at Ally you will be responsible for the development of machine learning and artificial intelligence solutions within the Advanced Analytics team. You will lead statistical modeling and analysis of customer data in applications, such as real-time fraud detection and loan pricing, to ensure Ally’s analytic data product offerings are viable and secure.
The Work Itself
- Lead a team focused on creating repeatable, interpretable, dynamic, and scalable models that are seamlessly incorporated into Ally’s analytic data products
- Collaborate with business partners to develop novel ways to meet objectives, utilizing cutting edge techniques and tools
- Lead the evaluation, implementation and deployment of emerging tools and processes for analytic data engineering, in order to improve our productivity as a team
- Advocate and educate on the value of data driven decision, focusing on the “how and why” of solving problems
- Partner with machine learning engineers, business intelligence engineers and solutions architects to develop technical architectures for strategic enterprise projects and initiatives
- Effectively communicate the analytics approach and how it will meet and address objectives to business partners
The Skills You Bring
- 5 years of experience in a quantitative field with a strong knowledge of statistical programming packages; Python preferred
- A self-starting mentality and passion for analysis, with interests in using state of the art technology and identifying unconventional opportunities for success
- Experience with linear and logistic regression, time series analysis, decision trees, survival analysis, designs of experiment, mathematical programming and other quantitative techniques; experience modeling rare events or fraud analysis is a plus
- Ability to analyze and synthesize complex data into clear action-oriented recommendations for the business
- Desire to work within a diverse group of people and passion for challenging the status quo
- Experience with Snowflake and AWS
