Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant will perform various accounting, bookkeeping, and financial duties, including recording financial transactions, reviewing financial statements, evaluating accounting systems, calculating tax liability, and recommending accounting best practices. Duties will include but are not limited to monthly billing review, audit prep, month end close entries, year end tax prep, answering client communication and compliance monitoring. The ideal candidate will have a CPA with working knowledge of QuickBooks as well as an understanding of month end close processes and annual audits.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Managing Accounting Specialist and assisting with training.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Prepares consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information.
- Reviews and updates monthly financials entries to ensure accuracy and GAAP compliance. ● Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files as well as reconciling accounts.
- Prepares and enters month end closing entries.
- Completes month end reconciliations.
- Prepares monthly profit and loss statements.
- Prepares and participates in annual audit processes.
- Registers for state tax accounts and maintains legal documentation.
- Assists HR with state payroll tax accounts.
- Prepares year end tax preparation.
- Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures.
- Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
- Provides accounting support for mergers and acquisitions by reviewing financial information.
- Protects the organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software as well as other accounting software programs.
- Proficient in Quickbooks online.
- Salesforce CRM experience.
- Ability to operate related office equipment, such as computers, 10-key calculator, and copier.
- Ability to anticipate work needs and interact professionally with customers.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field required
- At least two years of related experience required, including audit prep work.
- CPA certification preferred
Work Location:
- The office is in Gilbert, AZ this position has the ability to work a hybrid schedule.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Salary : $72,000 - $82,000
