Alma School District is actively seeking an experienced, talented and dynamic individual to join our highly successful and progressive schools. The goals and objectives for our classroom instructional aides include supervising children, teaching small group activities and supporting the classroom teachers. Our ultimate goal is to develop student capacity for problem solvers and prepare students for their future career and life beyond Alma School District. The candidate will also devote his or her energies and efforts toward learning experiences designed to fulfill students intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth in a safe environment.
THE ALMA SCHOOL DISTRICT PRE-K PROGRAM WILL OPERATE ON A COMBINATION OF FEDERAL AND STATE GRANT FUNDING AS WELL AS TUITION PAID BY PARENTS. CONTINUATION OF THE PROGRAM IS CONTINGENT ON ADEQUATE FUNDING AND STUDENT ENROLLMENT TO MAINTAIN THE PROGRAM.
The PreK Program is under different regulations than K-12 programs. Working in a pre-k setting is different from the elementary grades, and the requirements for instructional assistants are different. These differences will be discussed with candidates.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL SET
- Provide assistance in teaching and student supervision in preschool classroom.
- Complete instruction and other duties as asigned by lead teacher.
- Work with students in developmentally appropriate manner
- Help with classroom arrangement, materials preparation, and procedural requirements.
- Help with student instruction and assistance with personal care needs.
- Assist in compliance at classroom level with record keeping for attendance records, child care licensing and minimum standards compliance and early childhood environment rating scales compliance.
- Assist in daily communication with parents and with parent programs.
- Complete job documentation required by salary funding source.
- Demonstrate strong moral and ethical judgment.
- Complete annual professional development as required by district, state, and preschool program.
- Follow all Alma School District policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & CREDENTIALS
- Must have a minimum of 60 college hours or Associate's Degree or passing score on the paraprofessional exam. Original college transcipt is required as proof of college hours.
- Child Development Associate Credential isrequired. Staff will be placed on a Staff Qualification Plan if candidate does not possess this credential.
- Successful experience in a quality accredited preschool program preferred.
- Able to demonstrate competency in developmentally appropriate early childhood instruction through maintenance of CDA credential.
- Demonstrate professional language and appearance.
- Able to perform the phusical requirements of the job which includes: Ability to lift 30-50 pounds, Ability to sit in the floor or in small chairs, Ability to actively supervise outdoor gross motor activities, Ability to maintain CPR and First Aid credentials.
