Alma School District is actively seeking an experienced, talented and dynamic individual to join our highly successful and progressive schools. Our ultimate goal is to develop student capacity for problem solvers and prepare students for their future career and life beyond Alma School District. The candidate will also devote his or her energies and efforts toward learning experiences designed to fulfill students intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth in a safe environment.
THE ALMA SCHOOL DISTRICT PRE-K PROGRAM WILL OPERATE ON A COMBINATION OF FEDERAL AND STATE GRANT FUNDING AS WELL AS TUITION PAID BY PARENTS. CONTINUATION OF THE PROGRAM IS CONTINGENT ON ADEQUATE FUNDING AND STUDENT ENROLLMENT TO MAINTAIN THE PROGRAM.
The PreK Program is under different regulations than K-12 programs. Teaching in a pre-k setting is different from the elementary grades, and the requirements for teachers are different. These differences will be discussed with candidates.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL SET
- Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policies and procedures.
- Plans, prepares, and delivers lessons consistent to and aligned with District curricula.
- Possesses and deploys various instructional strategies in order to meet different learning styles as well as specific needs of students.
- Stays abreast of changes in standards, curriculum documents, resources, and trends in education.
- Appropriately utilizes and integrates student use of technology in the classroom.
- Assesses, records, and reports the development, progress, attainment, and behavior of all students.
- Embraces an attitude of being a continual learner, facilitator of learning, and a reflective practitioner.
- Utilizes effective classroom management techniques to provide a safe learning environment for all students.
- Communicates regularly with parents and/or guardians about student progress, behavior, or needs.
- Is an active participant in collaborative planning, intervention, conferences, meetings, and assistance teams both at the building- and District-level, when appropriate.
- Uses a variety of assessment tools to assess and gauge student progress, identify student needs, and extend learning.
- Maintains proper and correct records and all timelines according to District, state, and federal requirements in regard to student grades, attendance, and Individual Education Plan progress, if applicable.
- Ensures fairness and impartiality in all matters relating to students.
- Provides supervision for students at all times when students are assigned or entrusted to their care.
- Engages in professional development to strengthen personal practice.
- Develops and maintains professional and collegial relationships.
- Other duties, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & CREDENTIALS
- BSE or higher in early childhood education
- Licensure as P-4 licensed teacher - if not licensed, then the candidate can be placed on a Staff Qualification Plan to obtain preschool/pre-k licensure
- CPR and First Aid Training Certification is required to be maintained
- Able to perform the physical requirements of the job which includes: Ability to lift 30-50 pounds, Ability to sit in the floor or in small chairs, Ability to actively supervise outdoor gross motor activities
