Overview

The intern will work with the EHS Team to build / improve eLearning Modules; assisting with the development of Emergency Action Plans for events such as Loss of Power, Chemical Spill; Medical Emergency, Smoke / Fire. As well as :

  • Assist the EHS Team with continuous improvement of various aspects of our EHS Management System Framework
  • Conduct area inspections
  • Assist with development or updating EHS programs
  • Audit Chemical Inventory System
  • Support the new ergonomic assessment tool rollout
  • Work on sustainability-related projects
  • Utilize common personal protective equipment used in the laboratory and industrial settings
  • Learn and Work with Industrial Hygiene Instrumentation.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand the day-to-day tasks and challenges of managing EHS in the Biopharmaceutical Industry.
  • Demonstrate proficiency as a junior EHS professional via a variety of program / situational exposures.
  • Recommend program changes through engagement with key customers and understanding of compliance obligations.
  • Become familiar with local, state, and federal regulatory environment and how it applies to the biopharmaceutical industry.
  • Apply learnings throughout the internship to have a measurable improvement in 1 or more of the Site EHS Programs.
  • Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate program in Occupational Health & Safety, Environment, or similar
  • Working knowledge of PowerPoint, Word and Excel
  • Good written and verbal communication skills; attention to detail; motivated and energetic
  • Interest in OSHA compliance and understanding of basic OSHA safety programs for general industry and MassDEP / EPA environmental regulations.
  • Be capable of traveling independently to our various Massachusetts Facilities
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
  • At least 18 years of age prior to scheduled start date
