Position Summary:

The primary role of the EHS intern is to support EHS compliance activities related to the Gene Therapy Manufacturing Facility located in Bedford, MA and Quality Control Labs located in Woburn, MA. This includes supporting EHS functions within manufacturing, facilities, engineering, warehouse, laboratories, and office spaces. This role will support site inspections, data management, metric reporting, and continuous improvement projects.
Work Model:
Core Lab & Ops: This role typically requires that the majority of the work be conducted on-site and thus will be subject to certain on-site safety protocols during the pandemic.

Responsibilities:
- Support the EHS department communications (safety alerts, events, training) and campaigns (PPE fairs, distracted walking campaign, etc).
- Assist with EHS data management through EHS Insight and identify improvements to metric reports.
- Update the EHS compliance calendar and risk profile based on Ultragenyx EHS programs, Federal/State/Local requirements.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders (Facilities, Quality Control) regarding inspection findings and corrective action planning.
- Assist with developing Job Hazard Analysis for Facilities and vendors performing work.
- Support a fast-paced work environment with many tasks and shifting priorities.
- BS/BA in technical discipline: Safety, Environmental, Life Sciences, Engineering or similar field.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- 0-1 year experience in the EHS field, prior internship is desired.
- Strong communication and organization skills. Creative problem-solving capabilities.
- Stand for extended periods of time with periodic stooping / bending / kneeling
- Able to lift, push, pull up to 50lbs.
- Climb ladders and stairs of various heights.
- Work in a controlled environment requiring GxP gowning and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet, and body. This requires the ability to change clothes into appropriate gowning and personal protective equipment.
- Certain tasks may require the use of a respirator; medical clearance will be required in advance.
- Must remove all make-up, jewelry, and contact lenses while in the manufacturing environment.
- Working in temperature-controlled environments (cold rooms).
