Job Summary

As a Raw Material Developer, you will play a key role in material innovation and development, working with best-in-class textiles that deliver exceptional feel, function, and durability. Your expertise in fabric construction, performance testing, and commercialization will ensure every material meets the highest standards for movement, comfort, and wearability.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabric Development: Create and execute materials that align with Alo's design vision and technical performance needs.
- Material Validation: Oversee testing, risk assessments, and performance evaluations to ensure fabrics meet Alo's standards for durability, stretch recovery, and overall feel.
- Wear Testing: Collaborate with cross functional teams to manage material wear-testing process, ensuring fabric to body is compatible and scalable.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross functional partners to refine material choices and optimize performance.
- Commercialization Support: Provide technical guidance on material transitions from development to bulk production, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Supplier Partnerships: Work directly with global mills to develop and refine fabrics, troubleshoot challenges, and maintain high execution standards.
- Seasonal Calendar Execution: Ensure fabric development aligns with key milestones and delivery timelines.
- Sampling: Work together with team to manage sampling process for both prototyping and SMS sampling. Ensuring materials are available for designs needs.
- Material Innovation & Trend Awareness: Stay ahead of fabric advancements and industry trends, ensuring Alo continues to push material development forward.
Qualifications
- 6 years in fabric development, with a strong understanding of performance textiles and fashion-driven materials.
- Expertise in knit and woven constructions, finishing techniques, and technical properties.
- Experience working directly with top tier mills to develop and commercialize materials.
- Knowledge of AATCC and ASTM testing protocols, ensuring fabrics meet performance expectations.
- Ability to advise on material selection and refinement throughout the development process.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable in a fast-paced, design-led environment.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of translating technical information for cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in PLM systems and Excel for material tracking and development management.
The base salary range for this position is $90,000-$100,000 per year which represents the current range for the base salary for this exempt position. Please note that actual salaries will vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. As such, on occasion and when applicable, there is the possibility that the final, agreed-upon base salary may be outside of the upper end of the range. Please also note the range listed is just one component of the company's total rewards package for exempt employees. Other rewards may include performance bonuses, long term incentives, a PTO policy, and many other progressive benefits.
