International Raw Materials LTD (IRM) markets and distributes crop nutrients and industrial commodities through our extensive distribution system. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Professional to join our team and lead our safety initiatives and promote a culture of safety.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety and security policies and procedures with an eye towards continuous improvement
- Prepares and submits all safety-related reports, such as OSHA, ILTA, Protect and Sustain
- Ensures monthly safety meetings are held and documented at all terminals
- Facilitates and documents regular safety meetings at the senior leadership level
- Monitors Safe Behavior Observations (SBO) at various terminals to ensure quarterly minimums are met
- Reviews and maintains all site SOPs to ensure they accurately reflect the current processes at each site
- Ensures that Terminals conform with the current standards (ACD - Alliance for Chemical Distribution and Responsible AG, etc.) we maintain certification
- Coordinates action on checklists, inspections, and safety observations for each terminal in Check Proof and coordinates with local operators to address deviations
- Coordinates safety and security programs to promote and ensure a safe working environment
- Reviews current safety training programs and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates
- Submits recommendations to enhance the safety management program, including emergency preparedness, accident prevention, general safety, and risk management
- Conduct emergency drills at terminal to ensure incident preparedness
- Stops operations and activities that could harm staff or equipment
- Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health risks
- Shares environmental safety information with relevant levels within the organization
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Health and Safety Management, or a related field
- 7-10 years of directly related experience; strong environmental background preferred
- BCSP Certified Safety Professional or equivalent certification
- Certification as ASQ Quality Auditor is a plus
- In-depth knowledge of federal and state regulations affecting terminal and HAZMAT operations
- Ability to regularly travel between various terminal sites
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
