Safety Specialist

International Raw Materials LTD (IRM) markets and distributes crop nutrients and industrial commodities through our extensive distribution system. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Professional to join our team and lead our safety initiatives and promote a culture of safety.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Collaborates with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety and security policies and procedures with an eye towards continuous improvement
• Prepares and submits all safety-related reports, such as OSHA, ILTA, Protect and Sustain
• Ensures monthly safety meetings are held and documented at all terminals
• Facilitates and documents regular safety meetings at the senior leadership level
• Monitors Safe Behavior Observations (SBO) at various terminals to ensure quarterly minimums are met
• Reviews and maintains all site SOPs to ensure they accurately reflect the current processes at each site
• Ensures that Terminals conform with the current standards (ACD - Alliance for Chemical Distribution and Responsible AG, etc.) we maintain certification
• Coordinates action on checklists, inspections, and safety observations for each terminal in Check Proof and coordinates with local operators to address deviations
• Coordinates safety and security programs to promote and ensure a safe working environment
• Reviews current safety training programs and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates
• Submits recommendations to enhance the safety management program, including emergency preparedness, accident prevention, general safety, and risk management
• Conduct emergency drills at terminal to ensure incident preparedness
• Stops operations and activities that could harm staff or equipment
• Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health risks
• Shares environmental safety information with relevant levels within the organization
• Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Candidate Profile:

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Health and Safety Management, or a related field
• 7-10 years of directly related experience; strong environmental background preferred
• BCSP Certified Safety Professional or equivalent certification
• Certification as ASQ Quality Auditor is a plus
• In-depth knowledge of federal and state regulations affecting terminal and HAZMAT operations
• Ability to regularly travel between various terminal sites
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)

Pay: From $80,000.00 per year
