The Junior Ophthalmic Technician and Diagnostic Support Apprentice is an entry-level position designed for individuals eager to develop a career in the ophthalmic and medical field. The Junior Ophthalmic Technician will play a key role in assisting with patient care, supporting ophthalmic exams and procedures, and gaining proficiency in diagnostic testing. Training will be provided, and over time, you will gain the experience needed to contribute effectively to clinic operations and patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist ophthalmologists and clinical staff during eye exams and procedures.
- Learn to perform basic diagnostic tests, such as visual acuity, tonometry, and refraction, under supervision.
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring all equipment is properly sanitized and ready for use.
- Support patient intake by assisting with the collection of medical history, complaints, and other relevant data.
- Help manage patient flow, ensuring that appointments are scheduled and patients are prepared for testing.
- Perform administrative duties such as scheduling, patient communication, and filing records.
- Support the team in maintaining patient confidentiality and managing medical records.
- Monitor the inventory of ophthalmic supplies and assist with restocking as needed.
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting patients, answering questions, and ensuring their comfort during procedures.
- Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance knowledge of ophthalmic technologies and techniques.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- No prior experience required—training will be provided.
- A genuine interest in developing a career in the ophthalmic or medical field.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions carefully.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a desire to work as part of a team.
