We are seeking experienced and compassionate Ophthalmic Assistants to join our team. The Ophthalmic Assistant will be part of a hands-on, caring team that performs ophthalmological examinations and assists surgeons with ophthalmologic surgeries. The successful candidate will enjoy interacting with clients and their families, taking pride in the work they do and treating patients with respect. This individual is responsible for assisting medical providers and staff in providing medical care, as well as implementing and evaluating direct patient care. In this position you will prepare a patient for examination using EMR; perform office based testing and treatment(s); coordinate and manage patient flow and care. You will be expected to develop and maintain effective communication. Job Duties including but are not limited to:
Responsibilities:
- Perform eye exams.
- Prepare patients for treatments.
- Prepare medication trays and administer medications.
- Ask patients about their side effects.
- Demonstrate proper eye care techniques.
- Treat eye infections and other ocular diseases.
- Be thorough and complete when performing rounds on all patients.
- Provide patient education, counseling, and support during the course of their treatment.
- Promptly greet all patients upon appointment arrival.
- Standard clinical tasks: check vision; appropriate documentation/charting of services/procedure in EMR system; running various diagnostic test (visual field, OCT, Fundus Photography, IOL Master); calling in prescriptions.
Other duties as assigned or necessary, including but not limited to: Scheduling appointments, placing follow-up calls to patients, screening phone calls, and paperwork.

Experience:
- Preferred: 1-2 years medical assistant experience, BUT will train
WORK SCHEDULE:
- Office hours are M-F from 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM and Saturday from 7:30 AM - 12:30 PM. Must be able to work F/T with potentially 2 Saturdays a month and travel to our different clinics
