Alpha Square Group is seeking a motivated and capable Investment Analyst to fill a full-time position on its Investment Team. The Investment Analyst plays a key supporting role within the investment team, focusing on market research, investment analysis, due diligence, and portfolio monitoring.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Market Research & Thematic Development
- Produce Quarterly Sector Snapshots with deep industry research on funding trends, M&A activity, investor movements, emerging technologies, and competitive landscapes.
- Provide monthly internal updates on funding rounds, investor activity, and macroeconomic developments.
- Organize and maintain research in Notion and shared drives for easy reference by the team.
2. Deal Support & Due Diligence
- Assist in reviewing and assessing investment opportunities
- Selectively support due diligence efforts based on deal complexity.
- Provide research for investment memos
3. Portfolio Monitoring
- Support tracking for portfolio companies per quarter, assisting with: Financial monitoring; Valuation updates; Performance trends and industry benchmarking
4. Networking & Ecosystem Engagement
- Build at new professional connections per quarter through networking, industry events, and conferences.
5. Internal Knowledge Sharing & Process Improvement
- Contribute to internal research documentation, ensuring structured and accessible insights.
- Assist with process automation and workflow improvements to enhance research efficiency.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in math, engineering, and computer science (alternatively, economics with experience in data manipulation is required) with up to four years of relevant work experience (such as product management, business, investing or at an early-stage startup)
- Work experience in IBD, VC, PE or relevant field 1-2 years for analyst
- Excellent analytical, technical and quantitative skills with a passion and ability to identify and try new products, understand the competitive landscape and develop key market insights
- Intellectually curious, with a strong interest in technology, startups, and innovation. A long-term approach to investing
- Self-motivated, results and growth oriented
- Able to work independently and collaboratively with high attention to detail
- Ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment and think creatively
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
Bonus Points:
- Technical background or experience in data science a plus
- Strong financial analytical skills
- Strong network within VC/Startup world
- Experience of building up the database system is strongly preferred
