Position Information:
The Buyer 1 position assists and supports the Purchasing department in the efforts of buying product lines. This position establishes relationships with sales and warehouse departments to obtain and maintain production, needs and workflow. This position is also responsible for assisting the Purchasing Manager and Buyer 2’s with tasks and projects as assigned.

Reports to: Purchasing Manager
FLSA: Exempt
Schedule: Monday – Friday, Full Time
Position Responsibilities:
- Assist with buying product lines
- Monitor inventory levels at an approved level.
- Keep abreast of new items and suppliers to add to Company product line to increase customer satisfaction, sales and profit.
- Interacts with warehouse management regarding new items, merchandising and delivery issues.
- Heavy data entry into multiple software products
- Admin duties assigned by Buyers/Manager
- Set up items, maintain pricing, assist other buyers with confirmations
- Some minor marketing such as sell sheets, flyers, etc.
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong organizational, communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to handle time sensitive projects
- Ability to be self-directed and self-motivated, as well as work with a team
- Ability to coordinate a variety of activities and projects simultaneously and prioritize work
- Possess problem solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Thorough knowledge of computer operations, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
Desired Education & Experience:
- A minimum of three years’ direct experience purchasing of a wide range of products
- Understanding of food distribution industry
- Good understanding of purchasing processes
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to sit; use hands, fingers, handle or feel; reach with both arms and hands, talk and hear
- Able to focus; use close vision
- Able to work in an open office environment with usual voice level noise and stay focused on duties.
Work Environment:
- Work performed in a shared, collaborative office environment, managing frequent distractions. Sitting for long periods of time, with standing workstation as an option.
Supervisory Responsibility:
- This position has no direct Supervisory responsibility.
- This position receives Supervision depending upon the assignment. In some cases, Supervisor outlines steps involved in completing assignments or standard procedures are available to enable the employee to work in a routine fashion. The end results of this work are sometimes checked
