How you make a difference
The Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialist (PSRS) plays a vital role in supporting individuals with severe psychiatric symptoms, offering both rehabilitation services and hands-on crisis intervention when needed. This position helps individuals grow through daily activities, clinical support, social and independent living skills, and vocational rehabilitation. With a focus on empowerment, the PSRS ensures compliance with regulations and accreditation while documenting progress in a way that supports each individual’s journey toward wellness. It’s a position where compassion, clinical expertise, and practical support come together to make a lasting difference!
Key Responsibilities
Supervision and Support: Provides support and supervision of individuals served in programming, social activities, and living units, ensuring their engagement and well-being.
Education and Skills Training: Delivers education and skills training groups, equipping individuals with tools for personal growth and development.
Social Skills Development: Teaches and models appropriate social skills, fostering positive interpersonal relationships and communication.
Crisis Prevention and De-escalation: Prevents crisis situations by using de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviors and ensure safety.
Safety and Security Monitoring: Monitors the safety and security of the treatment environment, taking necessary actions to ensure the safety of individuals served.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
- Required: High school Diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree.
Experience:
- Required: Two (2) years’ experience working in a mental health program serving persons with severe and persistent mental disabilities. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in psychology, social work, counseling, behavioral sciences, or related field may be substituted for the two (2) years of work experience.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Preferred: Valid driver’s license as the position may require driving company vehicles.
- Preferred: CPI Certification (provided by the facility within first 90 days of employment). Interest in Crisis Intervention Training Certification and ongoing education preferred (CPI facilitator certification).
