Position’s Scope
The Grant Writer will identify, define, and develop funding sources to support existing and planned program activities as well as lead the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals to federal, state, and private funding agencies. Primary responsibilities include preparation of proposals and grant applications, and performance of responsible and administrative work in researching, identifying, developing, and responding to public and private grant opportunities in areas that support Alpine Springs programs. The position is also responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting data on the performance of program activities that are funded by federal, state, and private funding agencies.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares proposals by determining concept, gathering and formatting information, writing drafts, and obtaining approvals.
- Determines proposal concept by identifying and clarifying opportunities and needs, studying requests for proposal, and attending strategy meetings.
- Meets proposal deadline by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, approval, and transmittal.
- Enters and monitors tracking data.
- Coordinates requirements with contributors and contributes proposal status information to review meetings.
- Gathers proposal information by identifying sources of information, coordinating submissions and collections, and identifying and communicating risks associated with proposals.
- Develops proposal by assembling information including project nature, objectives/outcomes/deliverables, implementation, methods, timetable, staffing, budget, standards of performance, and evaluation.
- Writes, revises, and edits drafts including executive summaries, conclusions, and organization credentials.
- Prepares presentation by evaluating text, graphics, and binding and coordinating printing.
- Maintains quality results by using templates; following proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone; maintaining proposal support databases.
- Obtains approvals by reviewing proposal with key providers and project managers.
- Improves proposal-writing results by evaluating and re-designing processes, approach, coordination, and boilerplate.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; maintaining personal networks.
- Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Adheres to all policies, laws, regulations and codes of ethics and confidentiality as outlined by federal and state laws, and Alpine Springs policies and procedures.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- High school graduate or GED
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Grant writing experience preferred. Experience which should demonstrate a proven track record of securing new funding opportunities; comprehensive knowledge of research, and the ability to distinguish and identify opportunities for Alpine Springs programs.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure
- Excellent writing and verbal skills
- Be highly organized with the ability to implement systems and follow up processes
- Proficiency in research, interpreting, and analyzing diverse data
- Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office Word, PP, Excel, etc.)
- Motivated self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively and independently with purpose and accuracy
