Under the direction of the Dean of Operations & Education Initiatives, the Public Service Head Librarian manages all Public Service operations, provides digital and non-digital resource oversight, develops, implements, sustains, and assesses the information literacy program for the MBI learning community as well as other duties as assigned.
A high number of candidates may make applications for this position, so make sure to send your CV and application through as soon as possible.Essential FunctionsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.Lead the operations of Chicago Public Services team as follows : Oversee all Full-time and student worker PersonnelDevelop and oversee departmental operations, policies, procedures and processesEvaluate existing services and implement effective practices for service excellenceDevelop short- and long-range plans for the effective use of resources and promotion of Public Services, and the use of technology to achieve cost effective use of library services.Responsible for effectively directing, planning, organizing and controlling the financial activities of the library budget, including the annual operating budget for all public servicesParticipate in strategic planning in support of library and other educational resource services.Ensure provision of effective service for Circulation Department, Information Services Department and information literacy provision, as well as services for ADA compliance and web page designOversee the development and use of Education Curriculum ServicesManage Information Services direction and staffing and deliver Information Services, including traditional reference research and bibliographic instruction service supportDevelop informational literacy instructional program along with accompanying policy, procedures and process for teaching and assessing information literacyCollaborate with Chicago graduate / undergraduate faculty to develop curriculum-specific information literacy assignmentsOversee Collection Management in the selection, development and assessment of print and digital books and serials, library databases and all other library materialsServe as digital communications liaison and broker between vendors, consortia, Moody Education and Corporate FinanceDevelop and maintain best practice collection development relationships with MBI faculty for purposes of curriculum support and satisfying accreditation standardsAnalyze the use of library resources through data collection to successfully meet benchmark accreditation standards, regularly review collection key indicators, prepare regular reports as well as reports for special projectsMinimum RequirementsMaster’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution OR an accredited, advanced degree in Christian theology or Biblical studiesOne year of instruction experience in a library or academic settingOne year staff supervision experienceDemonstrated record of success in reference services, information literacy, and / or digital resource servicesCompliance with MBI doctrine and valuesAble to work in the US legally without sponsorship.Preferred RequirementsM.Div. with working knowledge of Biblical languagesRecent teaching experience in group instructional sessions related to information literacyDemonstrated record of success in working in a large organizational structureDemonstrated experience working with integrated library systems and course management systems.Work Environment / ConditionsMoody Bible Institute is a Christian-based Higher Education and Media Ministry.
