Buildings and Grounds Supervisor

Description

Alsum Farms & Produce Inc., a grower, packer, and shipper of potatoes & onions located in Friesland, WI is looking for a full-time Buildings and Grounds Supervisor! The Buildings and Grounds Supervisor is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of all buildings and surrounding grounds. This role includes performing routine maintenance tasks, minor repairs, and ensuring that all facilities are in excellent condition to support the operations of the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform routine inspections of buildings (including two migrant camp houses) to identify maintenance needs
• Conduct minor repairs on plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems
• Perform painting, carpentry, and other maintenance tasks as needed
• Replace light bulbs, ceiling tiles, and other fixtures as necessary
• Maintain and repair doors, windows, and other structural components
• Mow, edge, and maintain lawns and landscaped areas including prune trees, shrubs, and plants and remove weeds, debris, and litter from grounds to maintain a neat appearance
• Organize and assist with snow removal and salting 
• Maintain and repair outdoor facilities such as walkways, parking lots, and fences
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and standards
• Report any safety hazards or potential issues to management promptly
• Maintain records of maintenance activities and repairs with Maintenance Management System (MMS)
• Work with Maintenance Assistant and Purchasing to order supplies needed for maintenance tasks and take inventory of supplies on an annual basis
• Ensure all tools and equipment are stored securely and safely
• Communicate effectively with vendors and contractors when necessary and provide excellent customer service to building occupants, responding to maintenance requests promptly
• Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned

Education and Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in building and grounds maintenance or a related field
• Knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC systems
• Experience with landscaping and groundskeeping

Job Details:

Job Type: Regular Full-Time

Job Schedule: Monday through Friday; 7:00am to 3:30pm with the understanding their may be occasional work outside of these hours

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals
• Basic knowledge of building codes and safety regulations
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Keen attention to detail to ensure high standards of maintenance and cleanliness
• Self-motivated and able to function as part of a team
• Ability to utilize Human Resource Information System (HRIS) software
• Valid state motor vehicle license with acceptable motor vehicle record

Physical and Environmental Demands:

• Prolonged periods standing and walking
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and other manuals and documents
• Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to assist maintenance technicians
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds
• Must wear safety glasses and hearing protection in designated areas
• Exposure to airborne particles or fumes
