It specializes in Western Red Cedar and other premium species found in the Pacific and Inland Northwest forests. In addition to producing fence boards and pallet stock lumber, Alta's zero-wood-waste sawmills produce by-products such as wood chips, sawdust, mulch, and biofuel.

The Role:
Assists in maintaining records of fiscal and budgetary controls, ledgers, and other transactions, in either direct or indirect support of the Controller. Processes routine financial documents and accounting transactions, reconciles accounting records and analyzes routine accounting data. Perform product costing and variance analysis and prepare and present analysis details to management for decision-making.
Responsibilities:
- Product costing analysis, including, but not limited to, product cost setup and variance analysis within the company’s ERP system.
- Collect and analyze operational and production cost data.
- Assist in maintaining accounts and ledgers, which may involve account setup, subledger, and account reconciliations, and uploading and downloading entries and reports to coordinate closing periods.
- Post routine revenue, expense, and correcting entries within the company’s finance system.
- Review and process routine accounting data and financial reports as they pertain to assist with audit review.
- Respond to various inquiries regarding financial transactions; research and resolve problems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather cost-related information and provide financial insights.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Assist with Fixed Assets as needed.
Requirements
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting, finance, or a closely related field is required.
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in finance or accounting is required.
- Three (3) years or more in a manufacturing-related industry is preferred.
- Preference is given to candidates with experience working in forest products or related industries.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Must be able to perform routine accounting functions in an automated accounting system, including setting up accounts and ledgers, verifying and correcting entries, reconciling, and posting entries.
- Skilled at reviewing documents for accuracy, proper coding, distribution of accounts, and adherence to regulations and policy.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all assignments as mandated.
- Ability to work harmoniously with other company employees.
- Ability to be flexible and perform work under time pressure.
- Ability to train, direct, and support other team members.
- Demonstrates ability to prioritize work assignments and meet productivity and quality standards.
- Adapts easily to changes in work assignments and environment; willing to accept additional responsibilities and learn new procedures.
- Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations and company financial policies and procedures.
- Proficiency in MS Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, is required.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems.
- Account balancing skills.
- Skilled in budget preparation and fiscal management.
- Ability to prepare financial reports and/or update financial statements and/or projections.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Position Type/Travel/Schedule
This is a full-time position (40 Hours), and overtime work may be required as projects or job duties demand. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday.

- Pay: $86,200 - $110,600 per year(starting wage dependent on qualifications and experience)
