Nursing Assistants will provide direct personal care and basic support services under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. These staff members will assist in daily patient activities, record care provided, and support the overall comfort, safety, and well-being of veterans receiving care at VANCHCS.
Responsibilities
Education: High school diploma or equivalent with training in patient care.

- Assist patients with daily living tasks (feeding, bathing, hygiene, mobility).
- Take and record vital signs and patient observations.
- Prepare patients for tests and treatments.
- Support procedures such as dressing changes, trach care, colostomy care, and enemas.
- Provide emotional support and observe patients for behavioral or health status changes.
- Maintain safe, clean environments and follow infection control protocols.
- Document care provided in CPRS or other VA systems.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and assist in crisis interventions.
- Respect patient rights, privacy, and dignity at all times.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent with training in patient care.
Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required
- ProAct/MAB - Required for psychiatric assignments Experience: Minimum 1 year in a healthcare setting, preferably with veteran or geriatric populations.
