About:
We are a family farm that grows over 500 acres of berries under the Driscoll’s label based out of Watsonville, CA. We are looking for a Human Resources/Safety Manager who is a confident and motivated self-starter looking to work in a fun family farm environment. The position offers a competitive salary, a full-time schedule, health, dental, vision and life benefits. This is a key position in a small office overseeing a large operation of over 900 employees at our seasonal peak. This fun and challenging position requires good communication between field supervisors, general manager, controller, office administrators. Willingness to get out into the field to engage with our workforce. Along with a solid grasp of federal, state, local and company requirements.
Responsibilities:
· Plan, organize, direct and control the company’s Policies and Procedures.
· Conduct/coordinate required annual training programs, program audits, updates and maintain training calendar.
· Oversee new employee orientation and registration process.
· Policy development/updates and documentation.
· Maintain all safety, medical, and injury related employee records.
· Manage worker’s compensation cases from initial report and investigation through case closure.
· Company liaison for regulatory agency inquiries and visits.
· EEO-1 & OSHA Annual Report (data collection and on-line submission).
· Handle legally mandated leaves (PDL, FMLA, CFRA) from start to finish
· Administer benefit programs
· Coordinate DocRecord record retention program.
· Maintain personnel files.
· Coordinate performance reviews.
· Respond to inquiries regarding verification of employment and EDD.
· Complete monthly labor report.
· Provide assistance to General Manager.
· Handle difficult situations diplomatically and with strict confidentiality.
· Consistently show the ability to recognize and deal with priorities.
Requirements:
· 3 years HR/Safety experience in agriculture or a B.S. in a related field.
· Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations in Human Resources and Safety.
· Strong PC skills in MS office required. Knowledge of Famous and Data track a plus.
· Bilingual English/Spanish required. The ability to read, write, and speak.
· Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills.
· Strong work ethic and team player.
· High degree of professionalism.
· Strong organizational and planning skills.
· Ability to deal with daily stress of meetings, employee and regulatory issues.
· Willing and able to use discretion and take appropriate steps to find solutions to problems; present options and ideas to enhance current processes.
· Open to changing situations and willing to perform all tasks as assigned.
· Valid Driver’s license.
