Position Type: Part-Time (20.5 hours/week, with potential for additional hours)
Pay Range: $18 – $25/hour, DOE
Location: Alta Vista Integrated Life Services – Port Orchard
Position Overview:
Alta Vista Integrated Life Services (ILS) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEL Group Activities Coordinator to lead and support teen and adult clients in engaging group sessions that promote physical activity, social-emotional learning (SEL), life skills, and community integration. This position is ideal for someone passionate about working with individuals with developmental disabilities and experienced in delivering evidence-based curricula in a fun, safe, and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Development & Implementation:
- Develop and implement weekly group curriculum incorporating physical activity designed to elevate heart rate.
- Integrate SEL lessons using Social Thinking®, AIMS, PEERS®, and other evidence-based materials.
- Utilize Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) principles, including mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, and life skills engagement.
- Group Facilitation:
- Lead and facilitate weekly teen/adult disability groups, fostering a safe and inclusive environment.
- Coordinate and supervise monthly community outings to enhance social and life skills.
- Plan and host quarterly Parents Night Out events for client families.
- Administrative Duties:
- Record and maintain accurate group attendance.
- Submit attendance logs in a timely manner using the agency’s electronic billing system.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date client files with all required documentation.
- Communicate regularly with guardians and case managers regarding scheduling, group availability, and renewal of DDA authorizations.
- Safety & Client Care:
- Ensure a safe and clean environment for all participants.
- Respond appropriately to client needs and behavioral support requirements.
- Follow agency policies and procedures to uphold quality of care.
Schedule:
Regular Hours:
- Monday: 3:30 PM – 8:00 PM
- Wednesday: 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM
- Thursday: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM
- Friday: 3:30 PM – 8:00 PM
Typical Weekly Hours: 20.5
On-Call Availability:
- Potential to lead Tuesday and Thursday children’s groups (4:00 PM – 7:30 PM) as needed.
- Increased enrollment may lead to these becoming regular hours.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or degree in education, psychology, social work, or related field preferred.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities.
- Familiarity with SEL curricula such as Social Thinking, AIMS, or PEERS.
- Knowledge and application of DBT strategies in group or educational settings.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to attend community outings.
