What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mgr I - Splicing position at altafiber?
Job Purpose
This position reports to the Geographic Team Director and is responsible for a team of Splicers and the splicing methods and processes. This position is also responsible for ensuring safe and efficient splicing operations that meet guidelines established by the plan and are within time and budget constraints.
Attendance is required in this position.
Essential Functions
- Assigning work orders to crews, scheduling projects, and determining the priority of work orders.
- Ensuring materials and tools are available to crews.
- Conducting pre-surveys and in-progress visits.
- Ensuring safe and efficient operations through on-going inspections.
- Assisting engineers, planners, and project managers with planning details and cost.
- Engaging contractors and coordinating work with other team members (CTAP team, OSP technician team leaders).
- Providing training to personnel and providing feedback on completed work.
- Tracking time and materials along with ensuring completion of paperwork (progress reports, completion reports, work order revisions, etc).
- Providing occasional weekly and evening emergency coverage
Education
- Four years of High School or equivalent
Experience
- 1 to 2 years
- Demonstrated work experience in splicing
- Demonstrated successful experience in team and project management
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively with other groups such as public officials, customers, contractor supervisors, and crews
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems and to handle increased accountability.
- Ability to utilize Provisioning computer systems
- Ability to read and understand engineering work orders
- Training in splicing methods, tools, and procedures
- Whatever it takes attitude
