What are the responsibilities and job description for the Credit Analyst position at Altana Federal Credit Union?
Altana is looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Credit Analyst to join our Commercial Lending team at our Billings West End (32nd and Central) branch.
In this role, you will work closely with lenders to assess financial information, evaluate creditworthiness, and support the approval process for business loans. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with strong analytical skills and experience in commercial credit products, loan procedures, or accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist lenders in gathering financial information for new business loan applications, renewals, and extensions, including working directly with members and their accountants.
- Pull credit reports, verify debt, and estimate monthly payments for any outstanding debts to ensure complete and accurate loan applications.
- Calculate debt-service-coverage ratios and assess the creditworthiness of business borrowers on an individual and global basis.
- Adhere to the credit union's Business Lending policy and consistently follow sound lending procedures.
- Review and evaluate financial information provided by business borrowers.
- Provide recommendations to lenders on whether to approve or deny loan requests and help explore alternative options when a loan request is denied.
Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to analyze financial information.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and quantitative skills.
- Time management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- High degree of discretion and dedication to protecting financial privacy.
- Previous experience as a credit analyst or loan officer is preferred.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Preferred - Previous experience as a credit analyst
- Required - Experience with spreadsheet software (Excel).
- Basic understanding of accounting, statistics, and economics.
- Bachelor's in Business, Accounting, Economics, or Finance a plus.
