Location: Laurel, MT Office / Hybrid
Position Summary:
This is an in-office position for our Laurel, MT location. Possibility of hybrid or remote work for an extremely qualified candidate. The Credit Analyst is responsible for underwriting and risk rating of Consumer, Commercial and Agricultural loans by analyzing personal and/or business financial information and internal and external reports to determine repayment capacity and ensure compliance with Bank policy and state and federal regulations. Assist with loan portfolio management and monitoring through comprehensive relationship reviews. Identify process problems and propose solutions to Sr. Lender and Chief Credit Officer.
Essential Duties:
Gather and organize supporting loan documentation for underwriting.
Independently and accurately spread and evaluate various types of personal and commercial financial statements including balance sheets, income statements, statements of cash flow and tax returns.
Communicate directly with lending staff and customers to obtain credit information for underwriting.
Prepare comprehensive loan memorandums detailing loan requests and credit quality for loan presentations and approval.
Underwrite and risk rate consumer, commercial and agricultural loans ensuring that procedures and credit requests comply with the Bank’s loan policies.
Prepare administrative reports as requested and assist the lending staff as needed.
Monitor and manage the credit exposure of existing customers by reviewing documents related to finances and conducting periodic risk assessments.
Maintain effective relationships with lending staff and promote teamwork within the department.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in business, Accounting or Finance or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Educational experience, through in-house training, formal school, or financial industry related curriculum, should be business or financial industry related.
At least 2 years of related credit analyst experience and/or training. Work related experience should consist of a credit or loan processing background.
Work experience, knowledge and training in all loan servicing activities and terminology; knowledge and understanding of title policies and related loan regulations as dictated by state and federal compliance regulations.
Working knowledge of Bank lending policies and understanding of accounting and financial principles.
Excellent written and communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly and concisely.
Proficient with Microsoft Office programs especially Excel and Work along with proficiency with loan spreading software e.g., Moody’s, Buker or others; experience with Fiserv banking software beneficial.
Strong analytical skills the ability to identify and answer “why” issues in credit underwriting; exceptional time management and organization skills with the ability to meet established deadlines.
Projects a professional image and collaborates with others to accomplish goals and deadlines.
Current driver's license, Occasional Travel Required.
