Job Description : Network Technician (Eng. Tech III)

Position :
Engineering Technician III
Compensation : $24.17 / hour $4.57 / hour provided towards the procurement of health benefits.
Overview :
Altech Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Network Technician to support our government customer at Armstrong Flight Research Center. This position requires an individual with a understanding of network protocols, switches, routers, and basic troubleshooting skills. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a data center environment, including pulling cables in network closets within buildings, and possess fiber channel experience. The candidate will be responsible for installation and removal of CAT6 Copper Cabling, Fiber Cables, and Patch Cables for the AEGIS IT department at the Armstrong Flight and Research Center (AFRC). A CCNA certification is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities :
Install, configure, and maintain network hardware and software, including switches and routers.
Pull and manage network cables in network closets within buildings.
Perform basic troubleshooting and problem resolution for network-related issues.
Configure and support network management tools.
Collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure smooth network operations.
Assist in the implementation of network security measures.
Provide technical support and training to end-users as needed.
Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) or other Network certification is a preferred requirement
Minimum of 3 years of experience in network installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
Understanding of network protocols and services (e.g., TCP / IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
Experience with fiber channel technology.
Identifying, diagnosing and resolving technical problems related to VoIP or network failure / integrity and usage of PC hardware and software.
Ability to work in a data center environment, including physical tasks such as pulling cables.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance (this is NOT a security clearance but a more detailed background check)
Working Conditions :
Work is primarily performed in a data center environment.
Physical requirements include lifting and installing network equipment, pulling cables, and working in network closets.
