Summary

Supervises daily procurement and purchasing operations and implements the strategy to provide the materials and services to meet organizational requirements for quality, volume, availability, and pricing.

Includes the following, other duties may be assigned:

• Maintains strategic supplier relationships, negotiates pricing, monitors performance, and expedites to respond to changes in demand or disruptions in the supply chain.
• Collaborates with other functions to meet current and future inventory requirements and manage inventory levels.
• Utilizes technical tools to analyze data and increase responsiveness to material demands.
• Performs auditing processes to ensure procurement and recordkeeping comply with quality system management requirements and any applicable industry or governmental regulations.
• Negotiates and works with suppliers to find best pricing.
• Prepares and continuously updates work instructions regarding purchasing systems and procedures.
• Manages and monitors procurement reporting systems to meet requirements.
• Prepares and issues purchase orders and change notices.

• Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
• Oversees all activities related to procurement of a commodity, from intent to purchase through delivery of commodity. May include need to identify components content and origin for regulatory or customer requirements.
• Assigns procurement requests to the appropriate personnel.
• Responsible for department schedules, including work/customer assignments, vacations, breaks, OT assignment, backup for absent employees, etc.
• Ensure all functions of the department are performed in accordance with the Altek Quality Management System which is audited to AS9100 standards.
• Supervise staff in accordance with company policies and procedures, including hiring, performance evaluations, and disciplinary action,
• Assist staff to resolve any purchasing issues.

• Contributes to the development of processes and procedures for the department. Communicate with vendors to resolve any potential issues.
• Maintain and analyze metrics (i.e. on time delivery, supplier evaluations, etc).
• Complete assigned special projects as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Supervises the buyers and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Altek’s guidelines and procedures.
• Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, & directing work; and performance appraisals.

Computer Skills

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and /or work experience.
• At least 3-5 years of supervisory experience in purchasing

Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
