Site Coordinator: Hoquiam Elementary and Hoquiam Middle School
40-week work and 12-week summer hiatus -- contract
PAY RANGE: $42,500 - $55,000 depending on experience.
(Equivalent full time pay of $56,600 to $75,000)
7-hour/day, 5 day/week,
(36-week school year, 4-week summer program, all school closure days off, plus 4-week summer hiatus)
JOB SUMMARY:
This position is to support a 5-year (September 2023 – August 31, 2028) Department of Education/Office
of the Superintendent of Public Instruction supervised federal-grant project partnering Altera (aka NLA
Group) with Hoquiam School District for extended learning opportunities for remediation, acceleration
and enrichment for elementary, junior high students. Site coordinators hired will have responsibilities to
design and oversee after-school programming with a focus on math, reading and science for students in
grades 3-4 elementary, or 6-8 middle school: to recruit, hire and train tutors and support staff as needed
to provide program oversight; establish communications with building teachers and administrators
including the principal, counselor, and data personnel to ensure a smooth running program. The Site
Coordinators will engage with project partners as appropriate to bring in remediation and enrichment
activities appropriate to the skills and grade level of their enrolled students and teacher-identified needs
for SEL and remediation and learning acceleration.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Training/Experience:
Completed Bachelor of Arts degree (MA preferred), in Education, public administration, youth
development, counseling or related fields; consideration given for students nearing BA completion.
Teaching or training experience highly desirable.
Consideration will be given to individuals who have supplemented their work experience through
training or coursework and relevant work experience including working with elementary youth.
Experience in managing and directing similar programs may substitute for some portion of the
educational requirement, with the expectation that the candidate is pursuing completion of a BA.
Three or more years of first-hand experience working with low-income or disadvantaged youth K-
12 in academic remediation and/or enrichment, and/or youth development activities including
leadership and/or recreation, with some demonstration of supervisory experience and ability.
