What are the responsibilities and job description for the Jail Administrator position at Alternative HR, LLC?
Clay County is seeking to fill the position of Jail Administrator. The Jail Administrator is a member of the sheriff's command staff and coordinates the daily activities of the jail operations in addition to duties of the jailer as well as:
- Responsible for all jail Computer reports and records as directed by the sheriff.
- Responsible for setting up and maintaining all computer equipment for the Sheriff's Department and Jail.
- Responsible for setting up and maintaining all jail records.
- Responsible for administrating the necessary function of the jail which are dictated in the Clay County Jail Policy and Procedure Manual.
- Maintaining and updating Clay County Jail Policy and Procedure Manual as necessary.
- Responsible for money spent in the operation of the Clay County Jail and assist the Sheriff in the preparation of the annual jail budget.
- Maintain the monthly work schedule of jail personnel.
- Supervision of all jail personnel.
- Maintain a proper supply inventory of materials for the operation of the Clay County Jail.
- Maintain care and security control over all inmates, inmate visitation, special visits, medical treatment and all other inmate activities.
- Responsibility for the supervision of all jail programs to include work release, religious services and trustee program.
- Coordinates with jail staff to ensure that inmate files are maintained, proper and timely inmate discipline. Oversees the handling of inmate commissary money and all other jail records.
- Coordinates the responsibility of transportation for all jail inmates to required appointments, such as court appearances, medical appointments, state penitentiary, Human Services Center, and the return of persons arrested in other counties on an outstanding Clay County arrest warrant.
- Training of new jail personnel.
- Other duties as requested by the Sheriff.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, Public Administration, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a correctional facility or law enforcement setting, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of jail management practices, correctional laws, and regulations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle high-stress situations and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Proficiency in budgeting, financial management, and resource allocation.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and maintain positive working relationships.
Salary is dependent on education and experience.
