Must Haves :
Experience with domain knowledge of L1 through L4 of the OSI Model (2 yrs).
Experience with L2 and L3 protocols : OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, IBGP, EBGP, IS-IS, and MPLS (2 yrs)
Experience with L1-3 protocols to include LAN / WAN / MAN, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, IBGP, EBGP, IS-IS, and MPLS.. (2 yrs)
Experience with Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and Network Management System (NMS) applications used to monitor networked devices. (1 yr)
Able to work in a 24x7 network control environment, including Weekends and Holidays in a quarterly rotating schedule.
Working with internal team members; need to have effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
Troubleshooting with customers while on the phone - customer service background and aptitude
Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Networking, Information Technology or related field; or related work experience with a AA / AS, HS Diploma or Certifications.
Working knowledge of Long-Term Evolution (LTE), VPN, and DMVPN technologies preferred
Experience with call center phone systems
A huge plus would be if they have worked for a State of FL agency in the past (Tallahassee based would be preferred)
CCENT, CCNA, CCNP and / or ITIL certifications.
Job Description :
Seeking a Network Operations Specialist that will monitor, analyze and troubleshoot network problems within an operations center utilizing network management and monitoring tools. This position monitors the alarm conditions on the network to proactively identify and minimize disruption and impact to end users on the network. This position is part of a 24x7 network control environment, working shifts including nights and weekends when needed.
Essential Functions :
Perform root cause analysis to determine a plan of action for restoring customer's services
Operate among a myriad of internal teammates and external telecommunication partners to follow through with operational processes and improve restoration times
Facilitate coordination with our User Community, the Field Services Group, and telecommunication partners for both Break / Fix actions, as well as Change Management activities
Document Trouble Tickets and Change Requests of all related activities
This position is part of an onsite 24x7x365 NOCC environment where working rotating shifts is an essential function of the position as required by business needs. Workday schedule flexibility is required. This position is not eligible for remote work due to secure network access requirements.
Support short-term emergency evacuation to local or remote backup facilities.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Engineering, Networking, Information Technology or related field with 4 years of prior related experience or 2 years post-Secondary / Associate's Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
2 years' experience with domain knowledge of L1 through L4 of the OSI Model.
2 years' experience with L2 and L3 protocols : OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, IBGP, EBGP, IS-IS, and MPLS.
1 years' experience with Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and Network Management System (NMS) applications used to monitor networked devices.
1 years' experience with Change Management practices.
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Experience working with Long Term Evolution (LTE) and VPN technologies.
Experience with call center phone systems and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
