Job Summary: The Facility Maintenance Manager oversees and directs the maintenance team in daily activities pertaining to the repair, maintenance, and installation of equipment, machinery, and tools. They manage the preventative maintenance for the facility, grounds maintenance, utility systems, and other establishments as needed and directed by Operations Management.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of maintenance technicians by managing performance and developing talent, promoting a positive work environment
- Ensure that all equipment and greenhouse systems are operating properly
- Ensure the successful implementation and installation of new equipment
- Ensure assignments are completed on schedule, efficiently, within budget and safely.
- Supervise new construction and installation projects
- Create and implement monitoring systems and processes to detect problems as early as possible
- Source materials and supplies for both maintenance and new projects
- Negotiate with vendors for supplies and materials
- Evaluate the work quality of the facilities team and take corrective actions as needed
- Monitor compliance with company safety policies and provide safety training for the facilities team
- Work with management of other departments to ensure productive operation of the facility
- Communicate problems and solutions with senior management
- Provide training and development for the facilities team
Required skill set:
- Working knowledge of greenhouse operating systems
- Working knowledge of plumbing and irrigation systems
- Working knowledge of industrial HVAC, including hot water boilers, mixing valves and chillers
- Working knowledge of electrical systems (single phase, 3 phase, high and low voltage)
- Working knowledge of construction principles including concrete, framing, and carpentry
- Effective verbal and written communications
- Able to use Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to relate to and work with persons of all ages, social and ethnic backgrounds.
- Strong project management skills
- Bilingual Spanish preferred
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, facility management, or a similar field is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in maintenance.
- 3 years of maintenance management experience, preferably in a production/manufacturing plant setting.
