JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Supervisor
Department: Facilities Maintenance

JOB SUMMARY: Maintains and makes repairs to structures on the farm, including greenhouses, warehouses, irrigation systems/structures, and drainage installations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works on making repairs to various structures located on the facility.
- Maintain and repair buildings, greenhouse structures, mechanical equipment, machinery, and facility grounds
- Evaluating problematic systems or facilities and determining what installation or repair services need to be performed
- Communicating with vendors to procure parts and/or services needed
- Organizing workflow and ensuring that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks. Monitoring employee productivity and providing constructive feedback and coaching
- Performs physical labor for excavation and shoveling.
- Loads and unloads trucks of building materials as required.
- Operates machinery used for maintenance work when required.
- Aligns and seals various structural components.
- Climbs onto various structures like greenhouses and warehouses for repair and maintenance, which may require special training and working at heights up to 20 feet.
- Services and repairs nursery vehicles, both gas and electric.
- Trains employees to properly inspect and maintain equipment, including forklift certification, how to use equipment and tools properly along with fall protection.
- Maintain all safety standards.
- Maintains inventory of replacement parts, oil, fuel, and tires.
- Installs, diagnoses, and repairs electrical issues within equipment, greenhouse controls, and traditional electrical circuits.
- Assures compliance with state and federal laws regarding hazardous materials.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must be bilingual in English and Spanish.

Education and/or Experience:
Must have at least 3 years of experience in Maintenance and similar roles.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
At least 2 years of supervisory experience leading teams to accomplish the roles and responsibilities.
Language Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication in English and Spanish required.
The ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance1.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Some employees will also be required to climb onto various structures like greenhouses and warehouses for the purposes of repair and maintenance. This will require special training and individuals who are not afraid to work at heights that occasionally go as high as 20 feet.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
