About the Role
We're seeking a skilled Cell Sample Specialist to join our team. As a Cell Sample Specialist, you'll play a vital role in detecting, differentiating, and diagnosing the presence or absence of disease in gynecological and non-gynecological samples.
Job Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside our experienced pathologists and contribute to the accurate diagnosis and treatment of patients. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Performing microscopic examinations on gynecological and non-gynecological specimens, identifying all cells using established cytologic criteria.
- Detecting, selecting, and clearly marking cells representative of pathological processes present, and preparing a provisional diagnosis for cases referred to the cytology supervisor or pathologist.
- Interpreting specimen acceptability, communicating collection, transport requirements, and specimen unacceptability issues to caregivers, ensuring documentation follows standard operating procedure.
- Assisting in the collection of Fine Needle Aspirates according to standard operating procedure.
- Investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving QC failure, informing next-level authorities as necessary, and documenting actions taken.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- A strong background in cytotechnology, with a focus on gynecological and non-gynecological samples.
- Proficiency in performing microscopic examinations and identifying cellular abnormalities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
- Certification as a Cytotechnologist (CT) from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), within 12 months of start date.

Working Conditions
