Pay Range : $33.80 - $50.69
Summary : We are seeking a dedicated Cytology Specialist who will play a crucial role in detecting, differentiating, and diagnosing diseases in both gynecological and non-gynecological samples. This position offers the opportunity to assist pathologists with various fine needle aspirate procedures.
Key Responsibilities :
- Conduct thorough microscopic examinations of gynecological and non-gynecological specimens, accurately identifying and differentiating all relevant cell types.
- Select and clearly mark cells representative of pathological processes and prepare provisional diagnoses for review by the cytology supervisor or pathologist.
- Evaluate the acceptability of specimens for testing and promptly communicate specimen collection and transport requirements to caregivers.
- Assist in the collection of fine needle aspirates, adhering to established procedures.
- Proactively investigate and troubleshoot quality control failures, documenting all actions taken and communicating with appropriate authorities as necessary.
- Prepare final diagnoses using established cytology terminology for gynecological specimens categorized as within normal limits.
- Perform accessioning, routine staining, and coverslipping of cytologic slides while maintaining clear specimen identification throughout the process.
- Engage in additional duties as needed to support departmental and organizational goals.
