Main Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care to patients in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Maintain knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served on the assigned unit.
- Facilitate coordination of patient care within the interdisciplinary care team and provide patient education to ensure safe patient discharge.
Key Functions:
- Perform daily rounds on all patients to ensure quality customer service and address any unmet requirements.
- Develop a plan of care based on assessment, reflecting patients' physical, psychological, social, educational, developmental, and rehabilitative needs.
- Assess patients' conditions and nursing needs, set goals, and prescribe appropriate nursing actions to meet those goals and patients' needs.
- Identify early warning signs of changes in patients' conditions and respond appropriately, including contacting responsible clinicians as needed.
- Report pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate multidisciplinary team member and record those observations accurately and concisely.
- Begins discharge planning, education, and counseling based on identified needs to optimize patient/family understanding.
- Assign or delegate responsibilities for performance of nursing interventions to other persons with the necessary skills and competence.
Certification Requirements:
- Registered Nurse license from North Dakota Board of Nursing (NDBON) or Compact State Agreement prior to start date.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association (AHA) within 90 days of start date.
