Job Overview
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Altru Health is seeking a skilled Nursing Support Specialist to join our team. As a critical care professional, you will work closely with physicians and nurses to provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Obtain and document pertinent patient information from healthcare professionals throughout the shift.
- Monitor and maintain unit supply inventory, including stocking and ordering necessary equipment and supplies.
- Perform testing procedures under the direction of physicians and nurses, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
- Demonstrate proficiency in setting up sterile tables for invasive procedures and properly caring for medical instruments.
- Transport patients safely within the hospital or outside facilities, coordinating with relevant personnel as needed.
Requirements
- A minimum of 1 year of related experience is preferred.
- Certification as a Nurse Aide must be obtained within 4 months of employment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required within 90 days of hire.
Working Conditions
This role involves frequent standing, walking, and stooping/bending. Lifting weights up to 40 pounds may be required. The majority of the workday will be spent indoors, with occasional outdoor tasks.
