Job Description
The Physical Therapist Assistant is responsible for evaluating, developing, and implementing intervention plans for patients with various conditions. This includes providing interventions, evaluating progress, and documenting goal achievements. The assistant will also work with therapy team members to achieve patient goals and provide education to patients and their families as needed.
Essential Job Functions
- Evaluate, develop, and implement intervention plans using effective methods that align with the patient's plan of care.
- Provide interventions, evaluations, and documentation of goal progress, modifying intervention methods as needed, and collaborating with therapy team members to achieve patient goals.
- Orient patients, family members, or other relevant parties to the purpose and procedures of physical therapy evaluation and treatment, providing appropriate education and teaching under the supervision of a therapist.
- Supervise therapy assistants and other aides in a collaborative manner.
- Develop and document a discharge plan when the patient has reached their goals, achieved maximum benefit from therapy, or no longer desires service, providing follow-up resources and services as necessary.
- Obtain and document all required and pertinent patient information, including precautions, orders, and initial plans of care.
- Meet requirements of third-party payers by including appropriate documentation within designated time frames and adhering to insurance guidelines.
- Perform pain assessments and take action according to standard operating procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned or needed to meet departmental/organizational needs.
Certification
- Physical Therapy Assistant certification from the North Dakota Board of Physical Therapy prior to the start date.
- Physical Therapy Assistant certification from the Minnesota Board of Physical Therapy prior to the start date.
- A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record prior to the start date.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 90 days of the start date.
- MN Background Study clearance from the Minnesota Department of Human Services at the start date.
