Metal Pourer
Position Summary
As a Metal Pourer, you will be responsible for operating hand-controlled mechanisms to pour and
regulate the flow of molten metal into molds to produce high-quality castings or ingots. This role
requires a strong understanding of metal properties, safety protocols, and the ability to perform
physically demanding tasks in a non-climate-controlled environment.
Responsibilities
· Pour and regulate the flow of molten metal into molds and forms to create castings or ingots, using ladles or hand-controlled mechanisms.
· Collect samples or signal workers to sample metal for analysis to ensure quality standards are met.
· Read temperature gauges and observe color changes, adjusting furnace flames, torches, or electrical heating units as necessary to maintain metal melting specifications.
· Examine molds to ensure they are clean, smooth, and properly coated before pouring.
· Consistently monitor equipment performance and address any safety or operational issues to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
· Strong understanding of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and the most effective techniques for manufacturing and distributing metal goods.
· Monitor and control equipment, such as temperature gauges and other indicators, to ensure proper machine function.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. throughout the entire shift (average weight is approximately 15lbs.).
· Frequent Sweeping and Scooping: Involves frequent sweeping and scooping of sand as part of the production process.
· Ability to trundle a wheelbarrow loaded with sand weighing approximately 400 lbs.
· Must be comfortable working in a non-climate-controlled environment, enduring extreme heat in the summer and cold conditions in the winter.
· Capability to climb ladders during clean-up operations as necessary.
· Requires frequent bending, stooping, squatting, standing, sweeping, shoveling, and walking throughout the workday.
· Ability to manually remove castings weighing between 1 lb. and 30 lbs. from approximately 600 to 900 runners per day.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
