POSITION: Production Material Handler
LOCATION: Elkhart, IN 46516
REPORTS TO: Manufacturing Team Lead/Plant Manager
Primary Function: The Production Material Handler is responsible for moving raw materials, WIP, packaging supplies, etc. throughout the plant to facilitate production and manufacturing activities. This position manages all in and outbound materials to/from and supports all manufacturing work centers in the facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor all work center schedules for in and outbound materials.
- Ensure all raw materials, WIP, packaging supplies (pallets), etc. are on-hand at work centers prior to being required for production.
- Obtain all work order information from ERP system (work center schedules), locate, obtain and setup as required.
- Transport all finished production goods from work centers to shipping department and stack or rack as required.
- Utilize scanning equipment to maintain material locations.
- Ensure maximum safety, quality and productivity of production material handling activities.
- Operate and utilize all equipment to ALPCO standards, guidelines and as trained.
- Ensure full compliance with ALPCO quality/safety standards, including good housekeeping and overall cleanliness of facility.
- Responsible for housekeeping of skid yard, all operating and surrounding areas.
- Able to multi task and oversee all production material handling activities.
- May be required to participate in training/cross-training additional material handlers.
- Assist as general labor during periods of downtime.
- Must be able to work overtime as necessary.
- Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Safe fork-truck driving habits
- Must be detail oriented
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
- Ability and willingness to meet high-pressure deadlines
- Good material handling skills
- Basic computer skills; preferably applicable to ERP Systems
- Demonstrates verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with others
- Able to utilize small hand and power tools to complete miscellaneous tasks as required (hammer, pry-bar, snips, pliers, hand shears, heat gun, nail gun, circular saw, utility knife, etc.)
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift and move up to 75 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
- Must be able to work in standing/walking position in excess of eight hours per day
- Demonstrate good hand/eye coordination
- Perform repetitive motions in excess of eight hours per day
- Must be able to tolerate exposure to dust, fumes, noise, temperature and other elements in the facility
Shift Times: 7AM-3PM (Straight-8 schedule with two paid 10min breaks and paid 20min lunch)
Required PPE for 1st Day: Safety-Toe Shoes; Jeans/Uniform Pants or similar (no sweats or synthetics); Shirt with short or long sleeves (no sleeveless shirts); We will provide all other required PPE
