Forensic Clinician
Description
The Forensic Clinician must have an LCSW, MSW, MFT, MFT, ASW and or Psy.D. or Ph.D., from an accredited university and be license eligible. The responsibilities of the position include providing forensically focused individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, and clinical case management services to an adult forensic population. Documentation on all services provided must be submitted within 24-hours of service delivery. Clinical staff participates in all meetings and supervision activities. Assists with any other project as indicated by the Program Director or Program Coordinator as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Working knowledge of mental status examinations and current diagnostic manual.
- Knowledge of psychiatric mental health theories and practices.
- Individual and group treatment with clients who present a variety of psychopathologies.
- Ability to function as both the primary therapist and member of multi- disciplinary treatment team.
- Ability to accurately observe and document client's behaviors and treatment sessions
- Ability to accurately assess statements and behaviors of clients for evidence of antisocial behavior.
- Ability to handle encounters with clients who may be unstable, angry, hostile, agitated, or intoxicated, by alcohol or street drugs, in an appropriate, effective, and sage manner.
- Crisis intervention for assessing and de-escalating aggressive/assaultive behavior.
- Knowledge and understanding of human relationships.
- Ability to work and relate effectively with visitors, police, and community members.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish, both verbally and in writing. (Designated bilingual Spanish position)
- Good writing skills.
- Ability to utilize feedback effectively.
- Computer skills (Ability to learn Electronic Records Program and other company computer programs)
- Computer skills in word process for creating and typing court reports or other related documents.
Experience/Qualifications
- Experience providing group and individual treatment
- Treatment and diagnostic skills utilizing the DMS IV/V.
- Experience with severe and persistent mental illness, substance abuse, and assessing dangerous/violent behaviors.
- Experience with preparation of written client evaluations.
- Experience with the mentally ill and/or forensic populations.
- Experience in a mental health, correctional, or similar forensic agency, providing individual and group therapy.
- Masters (MFT, PCC, MSW) or Doctorate in Psychology (PhD, PsyD)
- New Graduates with Diploma are encoraged to apply
- License-Eligible/Licensed Clinician with the California Board of Psychology/California Board of Behavioral Sciences
- Desired Education: Forensic Emphasis from an accredited institution.
- Must pass Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and Community Care Licensing (CCL) background clearance.
- Valid California Driver's license.
- TB clearance.
- Driving record acceptable for coverage by organization insurance carrier.
- Fire and Safety Training.
- First Aid Training Certification.
- CPR Certification.
- Crisis Prevention Institute Training (CPI).
Compensation
$30.01/hr (non-bilingual)
$31.01/hr (bilingual Spanish)
Additional DMH compensation, up to $1,250/month.

8am - 4:30pm, 8:30am - 5:00pm, or 9:00am - 5:30pm
