Position Overview
We are looking for compassionate Public Health Nurses to provide essential public health services to individuals and the community. The successful candidate will support our client’s Children's Home Visit Program, delivering clinical care, home visits, counseling, and public health education. Key Responsibilities
Deliver comprehensive public health nursing services, including clinical care, home visits, counseling, and public health education.
Support the development, maintenance, and staffing of various health programs such as maternal-child health, immunization, child lead poisoning prevention, and mental health.
Assist in developing and evaluating program policies, procedures, and effectiveness, and refer clients to other services as needed.
Participate in epidemiological investigations to identify risks and implement disease prevention measures in the community.
Collaborate with community groups, physicians, and public health administrators to promote health and wellness initiatives.
Lead and coordinate special programs and projects, handling citizen and client requests, and facilitating collaboration with other departments.
Perform essential administrative tasks, including preparing reports, correspondence, and meeting documentation.
Public Health Nurse I
Provide a full range of public health nursing services, including fieldwork and counseling, to prevent and manage disease and promote healthy lifestyles.
Public Health Nurse II
Perform duties with minimal supervision, may act as a lead, and assist in staff training and development.
Take on more advanced responsibilities such as program management, policy development, and specialized public health program administration.
Qualifications
Two years of experience as a Public Health Nurse with increasing administrative responsibilities. A Master’s degree in nursing or public health can substitute for one year of required experience.
RN BSN candidates with public health coursework are encouraged to apply – training for PHN certification is provided.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited institution.
Current, valid Registered Nurse license in California.
Current, valid Public Health Nurse certificate (required within one year for Public Health Nurse I if not already certified).
Valid Health Care Provider CPR certification.
Valid California driver’s license.
