Position Summary
Amacon, one of Canada’s foremost real estate development, construction and property management firms, is looking for a Junior Corporate Accountant to fill a 12-month contract. The Junior Corporate Accountant will be part of a close knit team that manages the overall financial affairs of the group, which is comprised of a large number of corporate and partnership entities. As an accounting administrator within our Corporate Accounting team, the candidate will be involved in various realms of accounting support including Treasury, intercompany reconciliations and payables, financial reporting, as well as sales administration. The ideal candidate would be willing to learn, flexible to support dynamic needs of the team, and possess strong work ethic to get the job done.
Position Responsibilities:
Treasury
- Preparing bank reconciliations and respective journal entries on a daily & monthly basis
- Working with various banks to liaise on operational activities and issues, signing authorities, and initiating any set-ups or cancelling of bank accounts, as necessary.
- Reconciling intercompany transactions within the corporate group, including assisting with funding or repayment of related party loans
- Processing payables and deposits, with supporting documentation to ensure evidence of adequate and sufficient approvals, correct account numbers, payment amounts, and payment dates.
Corporate Accounting
- Preparing simple year-end working papers and financial statements for corporations and partnerships of the Amacon group of companies, and preparation of supporting reconciliations, journal entries, notes disclosures as required
- Preparing and reviewing Statement of Adjustments and working papers for sales closings, as required
- Processing sales related receipts and journal entries, as required
Other
- Maintaining and multi-tasking work load to meet both external and internal deadlines
- Other ad hoc duties and tasks as assigned
Experience & Qualifications
- 3 years of related accounting experience.
- Detail oriented, with strong analytical and problem solving skills, and ability to think outside the box
- Excellent communication and organization skills
- Strong organizational, and time management skills, with ability to multitask and prioritize various projects
- Flexible and positive attitude, with ability to work well independently, and as part of a team.
- Experience in the real estate industry, as well as with Yardi and/or Caseware an asset
