Role
Amangiri invites you to join our team as the Executive Sous Chef in our iconic desert resort. As the right-hand leader to the Executive Chef, you will oversee all culinary operations, driving creativity and excellence in our food offerings. You will be responsible for leading the team in menu creation, cost control, quality assurance, and staff development. Your leadership will inspire the culinary team to elevate Amangiri’s gastronomic experience to new heights. This hands-on role is based in Canyon Point, Utah, and reports directly to the Executive Chef.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Executive Chef in managing all kitchen operations, ensuring excellence in product quality and guest service.
- Act as the Executive Chef in their absence, maintaining leadership in all culinary areas.
- Oversee the creation and management of all menus, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert offerings.
- Directly manage and support the culinary leadership team, including Chef de Cuisine, Sous Chefs, Pastry Chef, and Junior Sous Chefs.
- Conduct weekly leadership meetings to ensure alignment and excellence in culinary operations.
- Supervise a culinary and stewarding team ensuring efficient workflows and a collaborative environment.
- Manage the culinary budget, including annual Food & Beverage revenue, payroll budget, and food costs.
- Provide visionary leadership in culinary research and development, from product creation to menu implementation.
- Collaborate with the team to create innovative, high-quality product offerings for Amangiri’s restaurant and outlets.
- Ensure all culinary procedures, policies, and standards are followed for cleanliness, sanitation, and cost control.
Requirements
- Culinary degree or equivalent 4-year bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in kitchen management, with at least 2 years in a senior leadership role.
- Strong understanding of kitchen operations, including menu creation, costing, and quality assurance.
- Must be Serve Safe Certified with strong emphasis on cleanliness and safety protocols.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire large culinary teams.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work hands-on in the kitchen and manage multiple outlets and special event locations.
- A deep commitment to quality, creativity, and delivering exceptional guest experiences.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, particularly in a fast-paced environment.
