This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Faculty - Mathematics who will be all-in on our mission and who will be responsible for developing the course curriculum and teaching classroom, laboratory, tech-supported, or online courses.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Required: Master’s Degree in Mathematics or Engineering or Master’s Degree with 18 graduate hours of Mathematics.
Preferred: Ph.D. in Mathematics or related subject.
EXPERIENCE:
Preferred:
- Teaching Mathematics in post-secondary for at least two (2) years.
- Previous teaching experience in Mathematics.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Exhibit effective teaching in Mathematics courses.
- Effectively teach Mathematics by incorporating high-impact teaching practices as well as learner-centered pedagogies with an emphasis on active learning strategies.
- Develop curriculum and prepare syllabus, keeping course content consistent with the catalog description.
- Develop on-line courses focused on student success.
- Demonstrate commitment to student success, innovation, collaboration, and instructional quality.
- Perform teaching activities, including classroom/online instruction, direction projects, and assisting with student coursework, research, and internships.
- Teach subject matter field in person and online.
- Assist with student registration and participate in recruitment activities.
- Serve on college committees.
- Attend briefings on procedures, advising, registration, and general policy.
- Attend faculty meetings, general assembly, and commencement.
- Perform other related duties as required.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time, and be able to move materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
Work Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events if necessary.)
Work Environment: This job may operate in a classroom, online, or tech supported setting. This role routinely uses standard classroom and office equipment such as microphones, audio/video-recorders, computers, overhead projectors, phones, copy machines, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
