This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Panhandle PBS Social Media Coordinator who will be all-in on our mission and who is responsible for developing, managing, and executing Panhandle PBS’s digital and social media strategies. This role focuses on expanding the station’s digital footprint, increasing engagement across platforms, and ensuring consistent, on-brand content. The coordinator will manage all social media accounts, collaborate with internal teams and external partners, and create content aligned with Panhandle PBS’s mission and visual identity.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Required: Associate Degree.
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree.
(Candidates without a degree may be considered if they have a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience.)
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Three (3) years of experience in social media management.
Preferred: Five (5) years of experience in social media management.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop a professional and coherent social media strategy and content plans that are consistent with Panhandle PBS/KACV-TV’s brand identity to be utilized across multiple platforms and on the web.
- Grow social followers and engagement as well as work cooperatively with other staff members to drive PBS content consumption and membership growth.
- Create and use templates and a posting strategy to build a consistent structure and page on each relevant social media platform where the station has a presence.
- Keep Panhandle PBS’s social media calendar up to date with plans for future posts and statistics for past post performance. Prepare other reports as needed to measure and gauge social media performance. (Integrate digital analytics platforms as organization moves into digital training in 2025.)
- Work cohesively with outside organizations to create social media graphics for their “The Gilvin Group” campaign.
- Coordinate with station’s graphic designer and other team members to develop visually cohesive graphics and digital assets for station events, promotional efforts, and digital content series. May be asked occasionally to help with designing the brand identity for various projects or initiatives.
- Create and execute digital content series consistent with Panhandle PBS/KACV-TV’s brand identity.
- Assist in the creation of on-air promotional spots.
- Occasionally serve as on-air/digital series “talent” (ie; hosting/being the face of digital series, shows, and/or segments.)
- Creating Content while utilizing food, set, and/or photo styling.
- Operating a DSLR camera and C200/C300 cameras to capture photo and video content.
- Video and/or photoshoot directing.
- Assist with special events and other station activities as needed.
- Comply with all college, state, and local procedures, rules and regulations, including AC dress code and attendance policies. Observe and promote continual improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times while working and anytime you’re representing Panhandle PBS and Amarillo College.
- Perform other work-related duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proficient in digital content creation and social media best practices.
- Strong knowledge of platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), TikTok, and YouTube.
- Awareness of social media trends and ability to adapt content accordingly.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (especially Photoshop and Illustrator).
- Excellent communication, time management, and multitasking skills.
- Creative thinker with an eye for design and brand alignment.
- Knowledge of the Texas Panhandle and PBS is preferred.
- Must understand social media best practices.
- Ability to film and/or take photos appropriate for use on PPBS website and digital platforms where the station has a presence.
- Ability to formulate a digital strategy for the station that will help us grow and monetize digital audiences.
- Ability to work under stress, to work independently, as a team member, and with people in a professional manner.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to work on several projects simultaneously.
Salary: Amarillo College follows a lag pay strategy, with starting offers typically between the minimum and midpoint of the pay grade, rarely reaching the maximum to support long-term growth within each position.
Pay grade 11 Amarillo College Pay Grades (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies as needed.
Working Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events if necessary.)
Work Environment: This position operates in a professional office environment, routinely uses standard office equipment (i.e. computers, phones, copy and fax machines, filing cabinets), as well as outdoor work at the station’s broadcast towers, and is in a high traffic area with continual interruptions. Work may also be performed outside of the office, in high voltage environments, and with little to no supervision.
