This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Professional Tutor - Student Support Services (SSS) Health Sciences Grant who will be all-in on our mission and who will provide academic support to students through non-classroom instruction on an individual or small-group basis. This role aims to enhance student learning by addressing proactive and remedial academic needs.
This is a Grant Funded position. Continued employment is contingent on grant funding.
Qualifications
EDUCATION :
Required : Associate's Degree in nursing or allied healthcare-related field.
Preferred : Bachelor's Degree in nursing or allied healthcare-related field.
CERTIFICATION / LICENSURE
Required : Unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse or unencumbered license and / or certification in a health discipline in the State of Texas.
EXPERIENCE :
Required : Experience in tutoring or teaching the subject area.
Preferred :
- Teaching experience in a community college setting.
- Experience in developing innovative curriculum and utilizing educational technology.

Salary : Amarillo College follows a lag pay strategy, with starting offers typically between the minimum and midpoint of the pay grade, rarely reaching the maximum to support long-term growth within each position.
Pay grade 10 (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).
Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and / or maneuver office supplies as needed.
Working Conditions : This is a part time position not to exceed 19 hours / week.
Work Environment : This position operates in a professional office environment, routinely uses standard office equipment (i.e. computers, phones, copy and fax machines, filing cabinets) and is in a high traffic area with continual interruptions. Software commonly used includes Microsoft Office, Colleague, Zoom and various other educational applications. Work may also be performed outside of the office and with little to no supervision.
