PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Responsible for the management of the MCJROTC Program at assigned campus. Function as regular faculty member and fulfill the same major responsibilities as classroom teachers. Work with both the school and community in maintaining and strengthening the MCJROTC program. Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in person and/or by virtual instruction in the subject area assigned designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree- preferred
Receive approval from MCJROTC HQ, Quantico, VA certification board- required

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Marine JROTC:
- Supervise and manage overall program administrative, operations, logistics, planning and training activities.
- Maintain an extensive extracurricular program for cadets to exercise and demonstrate leadership and competence.
- Utilize and maintain JROTC information management technology.
- Maintain traditional Marine Corps standards of decorum and personal appearance including proper uniform, haircut, and height and weight standards as prescribed by current regulations.
- Wear the Marine Corps uniform during the school day and during Marine Corps (MC) JROTC related extracurricular activities such as drill and marksmanship competitions, community service, and field trips.
- Schedule and coordinate JROTC unit activities: department, school and community.
- Actively recruit potential cadets through middle school visits and briefings to students, faculty and administrators.
- Build strong relationships with campus and community organizations, and other Marine Corps and civilian agencies through instructor and cadet interaction and support.
- Conduct 100% property inventory and maintain hand receipt for government property as directed.
- Plan and coordinate local educational field trips.
- Plan and coordinate out-of-town extracurricular competitions and educational activities.
- Coordinate extracurricular activities and events.
- Coach designated teams: drill team, air rifle team.
- Instruct designated leadership and education (LE) levels in accordance with the program of instruction.
- Ensure JROTC unit participation in mandatory curriculum activities.
- Counsel Cadets on duty performance and personal conduct to assist in their leadership development.
- Account for assigned cadets during every class period and extracurricular activity.
- Enforce discipline to ensure cadets maintain proper appearance and personal conduct standards.
- Participate in career improvement efforts such as in-service training, workshops, and advanced educational courses for professional development, as required by Marine Corps JROTC, school, state, or federal directives or laws.
AISD Teacher
Instructional Management
- Develop and implement lesson plans for in person and virtual learning that fulfill the requirements of district’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
- Prepare lessons that reflect accommodation for individual student differences.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned and present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.

- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the needs and capabilities of the student groups involved.

- Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and/or volunteer(s).

- Assist students in analyzing and improving methods and habits of study.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formative and summative assessments and track progress through a variety of methods.
- Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and sponsor outside activities approved by the school.
- Present for students a positive role model that supports the mission of the school district.
- Create an in-person and virtual classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
Classroom Management and Organization
- Establish effective classroom management and administer discipline in accordance with board policies, administrative regulations, and campus management plans.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
Communication
- Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents.
- Be available by phone, email, or video conferencing to confer with district personnel, students, and/or parents.
- Communicate with students or parents on a regular basis via phone or video conference, email, or district-approved website.
- Maintain a positive and professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community members through effective communication both verbally and written.
