Job Summary:
The Residential Specialist plays a crucial role in providing a structured and supportive environment for boys in our group home treatment center who experience behavioral challenges. This position involves supervising, guiding, and assisting youth in daily living activities, as well as helping to implement individualized treatment plans. The Residential Specialist ensures a safe and therapeutic environment that fosters positive growth and development for the boys under our care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision and Care: Provide direct supervision and support to boys with behavioral challenges in the group home setting, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Behavior Management: Implement behavior management techniques and interventions to address and de-escalate behavioral issues, maintaining a calm and safe environment.
- Daily Living Assistance: Assist boys in daily living activities, such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and maintaining a clean living space.
- Individualized Treatment Support: Work collaboratively with treatment staff to follow and implement individual treatment plans, ensuring that therapeutic goals are being met.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of daily activities, behavioral incidents, and progress reports as required by program protocols.
- Conflict Resolution: Utilize conflict resolution techniques to help resolve disputes and guide boys toward making positive choices.
- Mentorship: Act as a positive role model and mentor, providing guidance and encouragement to the boys to help them develop social skills, problem-solving abilities, and emotional regulation.
- Communication: Regularly communicate with colleagues, supervisors, and families to report on the boys' progress, challenges, and needs.
- Team Collaboration: Work as part of a team with other Residential Specialists and clinical staff to create and maintain a therapeutic environment that supports the emotional and behavioral growth of each boy.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience working with youth, particularly those with behavioral challenges, in a residential or treatment setting is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of behavior management techniques and therapeutic interventions.
- Drivers license
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging behaviors in a professional manner.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
- Must pass a background check and any other required screening processes.
Preferred Skills:
- CPR/First Aid certification.
- Experience working with adolescents in a therapeutic or residential treatment setting.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care practices.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
Work Environment:
The Residential Specialist will work in a group home environment where boys with behavioral challenges reside. This role requires active participation in daily routines and behaviors, requiring flexibility, patience, and a passion for making a positive impact on the lives of at-risk youth.

Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
