Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated Residential Specialist to join our team. This role is essential in maintaining a structured, trauma-informed living environment that promotes the well-being, growth, and safety of our residents. You will serve as a mentor, role model, and caretaker, helping our youth navigate daily life and develop critical life skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and engage youth in daily routines and activities, including meals, hygiene, schoolwork, recreation, and bedtime.
- Promote a safe and structured environment by enforcing program rules, setting healthy boundaries, and utilizing trauma-informed care practices.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with residents through consistent, respectful, and professional interactions.
- Monitor and document behaviors, progress, incidents, and daily activities in accordance with licensing and agency standards.
- Assist in implementing individualized treatment plans and collaborate with clinical staff to support therapeutic goals.
- Intervene in crisis situations using approved de-escalation and behavior management techniques.
- Participate in team meetings, staff training, and ongoing professional development.
- Administer medications (if certified) and provide basic medical support as directed.
- Transport residents to appointments, school, outings, or court hearings as needed (valid driver's license required).
- Maintain cleanliness and order of the residential facility, including supervision of resident chores.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Education, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year experience working with youth in a residential, educational, or mental health setting preferred.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass a background check, and obtain CPR/First Aid certification.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Emotionally resilient with the ability to manage stressful situations calmly and effectively.
- Commitment to trauma-informed care, cultural competency, and youth development principles.
Schedule & Compensation
- Flexible shifts: day, evening, overnight, weekend
